The City of Maple Ridge is excited and honoured to host the 2024 BC Summer Games!

I was invited to attend the BC Summer Games Flag Raising on Wednesday, July 19, at City Hall to mark one year out from hosting the 2024 BC Summer Games.

There was a ceremony in the plaza outside the East Entrance to City Hall from 11:00 am until noon. The program consisted of brief speeches followed by the installation of the BC Summer Games flags on the balcony outside City Hall.

2024 will also be the 150th birthday year of Maple Ridge

The City of Maple Ridge has previously had the honour of hosting the 1983 and 1998. The City was also announced as the host of the 2020 BC Summer Games; however, the event was cancelled due to the global pandemic.

In the true spirit of community, the BC Games Society rallied behind our City and announced that Maple Ridge would host the 2024 BC Summer Games.

Laura Butler was selected as the President and Ernie Daykin as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the BC Summer Games.
At the May 2 Council Meeting, Council thanked them for stepping up to take on these important roles as we get ready to showcase our beautiful community.
